Conversation: Different uses of 'like'

This activity is for pre-intermediate and intermediate levels and is aimed at helping students identify the uses of “like” in question forms and learn when “like” can be used as a verb or a preposition.  

For every question below, bring one drawing or magazine clip:

What's he/she/it like?

What is he/she like?  

What's the weather like?

What does he/she like doing?

What does he/she look like?

What would you like?

Post each drawing or magazine clip on the board and ask the respective questions.  Bring enough pictures so that everyone can participate in the activity once. Then post a different picture on the board and ask your students to formulate a question using “like”.
