Games: Tutti-Frutti

Here’s a fun game with which to practice vocabulary and sentence structure.  
In the first part of this activity, you ask your students to make a table  on a separate sheet of paper as follows:

Each student will start by saying out loud the first letter of the Alphabet, “A!” and then he/she  recites the alphabet in silence until the person on his/her right says “STOP”. The letter the student stops at will go  in the “Letter” box, and then all students must fill the boxes with words that start with  that  letter.  The first to finish completing every column with a word beginning with  the designated letter says “STOP”, and then points are tabulated.  

POINTS- Fifty points for every original word.  Twenty-five points for every word that is placed by two or more students. Zero points for a blank space.  

In the second part of the activity, when the game is finished, you  ask your students to write a one-page story for homework, using the words in their chart. This homework assignment will test their facility with sentence structure, paragraph-writing and productive skills.  

This activity is good for all ages and from beginner to intermediate levels. It  takes about 20 minutes.
